So who is ‘Robyn’?

About six months ago we were approached by a young entrepreneur who wanted to solve a problem that a lot of our customers face - indecision. What they had realised was that cocktail bars have fabulous menus, with lots of cocktails with fancy names and a list of ingredients - but nowhere does it tell you what the drink tastes like. The result of this is that often people pick drinks that are not suitable for their tastes.

That is where ‘Robyn’ steps in. ‘Robyn’ asks you to answer nine multiple choice questions that are simple, fun and take three minutes or less to do. Once thats done, it just needs your name, any allergies you have, and your email address. The result? - a cocktail created exclusively for you!

How it works.

‘Robyn’ uses your answers to create a profile about you and matches that to well known, famous cocktail recipes. It then searches our entire range of stock including spirits, wines, mixers, juices, and garnishes and creates a drink which matches your specific flavour profile.

This is brand new technology and is only currently available in twenty-five bars in the world, including the Aviary Bar, Rugby. So far in testing, it has achieved a 97% success rate in providing an exclusive cocktail which customers said they would order again.

Once you have created your drink, you will also be emailed the ingredients, and a step by step guide to make it. That means if you want it again you can show us your email, or even make it yourself at home. So the question is, what will it make for you?

NO MACHINE, no automated cocktails.

Whilst it’s emailing you the above, it’s telling our bar team the same so that they can start hand-crafting your specialised cocktail. This is pure digital thinking, all the creatively, love, care and passion still comes from human interaction.

With our current stock, which is always expanding, it is currently offering your exclusive cocktail to be ONE option in ONE MILLION, FORTY-EIGHT THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED and SEVENTY SIX cocktails it can create.

Allergies - no problem.

You have the option to tell it of any allergies you have and it will avoid those items in your recipe. It also tells the bartending team too! You could also use this space to include anything you just don’t like!

Unsure what to order? - Ask ‘Robyn’, but you can also have fun with ‘Robyn’! It’s a great, easy, simple interaction on your phone that can be great fun if you want that unique experience. Compare cocktails with your friends, post your exclusive cocktails on your socials, create your own menu. The fun is endless!

Why ‘Robyn’?

We’ve nicknamed our team member ‘Robyn’ for several reasons. ‘I ordered a unique custom cocktail from your new A.I. robot thing’ is a bit of a mouthful, right? So we’ve given it a name that is neither male nor female, and of course is associated with birds (we are the Aviary after all). So all you have to do is ask for ‘Robyn’ or say ‘Can I ask ‘Robyn’ or even better, ‘This custom cocktail ‘Robyn’ created for me is incredible!’ - and we know you will all be saying that.

Is A.I. going to replace your human mixologists?

We want you to feel this is still a human interaction. ‘Robyn’ is here to do the hard work, the fast thinking, and process the data, not make the cocktail itself. Our award winning team are here for that and in no way, will A.I. EVER replace the human touch/chat/smile that they provide.

It’s no different from ordering food via an app in a restaurant. The waiter still brings it, the chef still cooks it….and we all know, until self service check-outs can do a small shop without calling the assistant ten times, we are safe from A.I. taking over the world.

So how do I try it, and what does it cost?

All you have to do is ask ‘Robyn’ to make a drink for you if you want to try it, or just chat to our team at the bar about it. We are happy to explain how to works and take you through the experience step by step. We have an appointed team member who works only with ‘Robyn’ so there is no confusion. 

Once you have answered the nine simple questions it needs, you make payment on your phone, just like any other transaction. The team then make the drink and bring it to you to enjoy. It’s as simple as that. It will email you all the details after you have made payment, but it wont show you that before for a good reason - our team will explain in person the interesting facts and stats behind this!

In 97% of cases so far, the customer confirmed they would have re-ordered the drink as they enjoyed it.

Creating a custom cocktail with ‘Robyn’ costs £14 per drink at the moment, but remember, its created especially for you, no one else is getting that drink and the recipe is yours to keep also.
